Doug Cantrell is an Associate Professor of History at Elizabethtown Community College in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, where he has taught for 13 years. He holds a B.A. from Berea College in History and Political Science, an M.A. from the University of Kentucky, and has completed 30 hours toward the Ph.D. He is the author of numerous journal and encyclopedia articles in the field of immigration and ethnic history. Professor Cantrell also teaches Kentucky and American History courses on the web and is the social science discipline leader for the Kentucky Commonwealth Virtual University. He is listed in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who in the South and Southwest. He is a former editor and past president of the Kentucky Association Teachers of History.

David Bowden is an Associate Professor of History at Elizabethtown Community College in Kentucky, where he teaches European, United States, and World War II history. He earned a B.B.A. degree in Marketing and an M.A. degree in History from the University of Kentucky. He has taught full-time for Elizabethtown Community College for seven years and previously served as an adjunct faculty member for the University of Louisville and Elizabethtown Community College. David Bowden has published an article on Native American history in the Chronicles of Oklahoma and has presented a research paper at the Indiana State University's Conference on Baseball in Literature and Culture. He served as Secretary and then as Community College Representative for the Executive Committee of the Kentucky Association of Teachers of History for six years.

Dr. Mel Weissman is a Professor of History at the County College of Morris, Randolph, New Jersey. Dr. Weissman received his B.A. and M.A. at the University of Illinois, Urbana, Illinois and his Ph.D. in Medieval History from Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Dr. Weissman served as visiting professor, teaching a course in Comparative History in the Department of International Relations, St. Petersburg State University, St. Petersburg, Russia, in 1998. Dr. Weissman was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship in 2000 and taught Aspects of a Democratic Society at Mari-State University, Mari-el Republic, Russia. Dr. Weissman has published articles on Carolingian Art, as well as classroom strategies. He is an accomplished violinist, and he and his wife, Peggy, a Director of Public Health Nursing, live in Sparta, New Jersey.

Barbara D. Ripel is Professor of History at Suffolk County Community College, Riverland, New York. Her B.A. and Ph.D. are from SUNY Stony Brook, and her M.A. is from Rutgers University in New Jersey. The West Georgia Quarterly published her article on Harbottle Dorr, and The William and Mary Quarterly published her research on early pro-slavery petitions from the 1780s. Beside her background in American History, Professor Ripel has taught Western Civilization survey courses, Political Science, Anthropology and Sociology. She recently directed the Honors Program on the Suffolk Campus. In 1998, she received the New York State Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching. Dr. Ripel serves as the campus advisor to Phi Theta Kappa, the International Honor Society for Two Year Colleges.

Timothy D. Holder is an assistant professor at Walters State Community College in Tennessee. He has a Ph.D. and an M.A. in History from the University of Kentucky and a B.A. from Asbury College. Dr. Holder was a contributor to the Encyclopedia of International Military History and a co-author of The Western Dream of Civilization. He has had numerous reviews published of books in the following genres: history, historical fiction, and culture.

John A. Moretta earned a B.A. in History from Santa Clara University in CA., an M.A. in History from Portland State University in Oregon, and a Ph.D. in History from Rice University in Houston, Texas. He is currently Professor of History and Chair of the Social Sciences Dept. of Central College, Houston Community College System in Houston, Texas. Dr. Moretta is also an adjunct professor at the University of Houston, where he has taught both undergraduate and graduate classes on a variety of historical topics, ranging from Texas history to United States history through American fiction. He is also an adjunct professor of history in the university’s Honor’s College. Dr. Moretta’s first book, William Pitt Ballinger, Texas Lawyer, Southern Statesman, won the 2003 San Antonio Conservation Society’s award for one of the best books in Texas history. In addition to his book, Dr. Moretta has also written several articles on Texas history, published in both local and national historical journals, such as Civil War History. He is a co-author of The Western Dream of Civilization and American Dreams, American Reality. He is currently completing a biography of William Penn for Addison Wesley Longman’s Library of American Biography Series. Expected publication date is fall, 2005.

Thomas Matijasic earned a B.A. from Youngstown State University, a M.A. from Kent State and a Ph.D. in History from Miami University. He is currently a Professor of History at Prestonsburg Community College in eastern Kentucky. Dr. Matijasic has received three Great Teacher Awards and five NISOD Awards for teaching excellence. He has served as President of the Kentucky Association of Teachers of History and is a member of the Southern Historical Association. In 1994, Governor Brereton Jones appointed him to a seat on the Kentucky Heritage Council. He was re-appointed to the Council in 1998 by Governor Paul Patton when his first term expired. Dr. Matijasic has published more than twenty articles and thirty book reviews. He has also contributed entries to the Kentucky Encyclopedia and to reference works published by Salem Press.

Donald L. Barlow earned a B.S. from Indiana Wesleyan University, and a M.A. and Ph.D in History from Ball State University. He is currently an Associate Professor of History at Prestonsburg Community College in Prestonsburg, Kentucky where he teaches European and American History. Dr. Barlow previously taught at Bartlesville Wesleyan College and Oral Roberts University. He has served on the Board of the Historical Confederation of Kentucky since 1999, and as a District Coordinator of National History Day in two different states since 1985. He was chosen to attend an NEH summer seminar at Yale in 1989, and he participated in a humanities seminar for the University of Kentucky Community College System for the purpose of developing a comprehensive, interdisciplinary approach to the study of history and the humanities for the university and its community college system.
